Hi guys

I work in a manufacturing environment - a plant, so theres lots of machinery, gas and the like.

I noticed that this does affect my lungs - i had a pneumo in mid sept and surgery in oct.

Anyone have similar experiences?

Any advice?

Hi ZR, thats a really hard one since its your job, i was just wondering, do your employers supply anything like breathing masks, there are so many to choose from , especially designed for different things, i got one for my dad from our local, little hardware store, that had a filter for chemical & solvent use, (he suffers with his breathing & uses lots of smelly glues etc, he`s a plumber/builder. He was actually painting his house at the time, so i got him the mask as a present. Could you wear something like that for your job to help? By the way what part of africa are you from,? my auntie has been living in africa for, about 25yrs, she`s in cape town at the moment. kez

Oh, im also in South Africa - but in a different town to your relative (probably 2000kms away)

I know I'm coming into this discussion rather late, but I thought I'd still offer my experience: I had my second SP after beginning my current job in a manufacturing plant. I work in the front office, but I do go out into the manufacturing area several times throughout the day. I was also wondering if this might have anything to do with my SP.

I would said no. I have had to work in a lot of environments with my job. I can say that if you are in the time of your life when your bumps are active. It not going to be fun in your a firefighter or something like that.
I have have some years between SPs. After one. I take about 3 months off and work my way back up to the hard stuff at my own speed.
