my last sp was in dec 2010. but since then i keep gettin chest infections-well i think i am. im coughing constantly specially at night. im scared that it can cause another collapse, i think ive got a chest infection now and scared to go to the doctors as last time i went with a chest infection it turned out to be an sp, and i had to have a chest drain. so i just want to know if a chest infection or coughing to much can cause another collapse

Strong coughing can produce a Sp, but its not a normal reaction to it.

i know its hard to go to the doctor, but it seems you have to. its better to go and get fixed, than to damage the lungs even more than you need to.

It may only be an infection. But i strongly recommend going to the doctor.
coughing usually comes from something inside the lung and not the lung wall.(where the collapse occurs.)

Good luck Smile
